An honest comparison

AG2C vs. traditional recruiting services

The straight breakdown β€” including where another service might genuinely be a better fit for your family.

Why this page exists

Most families evaluating college softball recruiting platforms end up comparing AG2C to a traditional recruiting service β€” companies like NCSA, SportsRecruits, FieldLevel, CaptainU and BeRecruited. They've been around for years, spend heavily on marketing, and have a much bigger presence at tournaments and showcases.

We're not going to pretend they don't exist or that they have no value. What we'll do is tell you the truth about how they differ from AG2C β€” so you can decide based on what your family actually needs.

We use "traditional recruiting services" throughout to describe the category. Specific company pricing, features and practices change frequently β€” always check a company's current website before deciding based on cost or service details.

The difference underneath everything

It isn't price or features. It's who runs the process.

Traditional services Β· built around exposure

The core promise is visibility β€” get her name in front of as many college coaches as possible. Large athlete databases, mass-email tools, recruiting coordinators who work "on your behalf," profile inclusion in coach-facing directories.

The implicit assumption: if enough coaches see her, someone will recruit her.

AG2C Β· built around ownership

The core promise is education and ownership β€” teach her how recruiting actually works, give her the tools to run her own process, and produce a profile coaches want to open.

The underlying belief: coaches recruit athletes who demonstrate initiative, professionalism and genuine interest β€” not athletes who simply appear in a database.

What the differences actually mean

Five things a table can't show you

1
Price isn't just cost β€” it's commitment

A $2,500 upfront package isn't only a money decision. It's a psychological commitment that makes it harder to walk away if the service doesn't fit, and multi-year contracts lock families in even when circumstances change β€” an injury, a change of heart, a shift in target division.

AG2C is $24.99/month, or $199/year β€” over $100 saved β€” with no contract, because the product should earn your money every month. If you stop using it, you should be able to cancel in thirty seconds without a phone call.

2
Who actually sends the coach emails

The single most important difference, and the one most families don't understand until they're deep in the process.

Some services offer to send emails on her behalf β€” generic, templated introductions pushed to hundreds of coaches at once. It feels efficient. It isn't. Coaches identify mass-sent recruiting-service email in about two seconds, and many delete it on sight.

The emails that get read are written by the athlete β€” specific to the program, naming the coach, referencing something real about the school. At AG2C she writes every one; we give her the templates, the talking points and the structure.

3
Education versus exposure

Traditional services assume the bottleneck is visibility β€” that if a coach just saw her, things would happen. That framing is comforting and misleading.

The real bottleneck is usually knowledge. When to start outreach. How D1 and D2 scholarship math differ. What a coach evaluates in the first thirty seconds of a video. What a verbal commitment actually is, and how it comes apart. No amount of database exposure fixes a knowledge gap.

4
What happens when you cancel

Traditional services may retain athlete data, continue displaying profiles in coach-facing databases, or make content difficult to export β€” and a multi-year contract can mean paying for years after you want to stop.

At AG2C, cancelling deactivates the profile URL, your data is preserved in case you return, and we don't retain or reuse your content for any purpose. Your daughter's content belongs to her.

5
The sales experience

Families commonly report high-pressure calls, limited-time offers and tiered packaging designed to push toward the most expensive option. The signup experience is often closer to buying a timeshare than a software subscription.

AG2C has no sales team. You sign up online, you cancel online, you email us with questions. That's the whole experience.

Being straight with you

AG2C isn't right for every family

And we'd rather say so here than take money from someone it won't serve.

A traditional service may fit if…
  • You genuinely want someone else to manage the process, and have the budget for it
  • You want in-person recruiting advisors rather than a self-directed platform
  • You want a coordinator for specific tasks β€” film editing, coach calls, visit logistics
  • Your athlete isn't going to drive her own outreach, and you're comfortable with someone else doing it
  • The premium price isn't a barrier for your family
  • You'd prefer a sales-led onboarding experience to self-service signup
AG2C fits if…
  • You want to understand how recruiting works rather than hand it off
  • Your athlete is willing to do her own outreach, writing and follow-up
  • You want a flexible monthly cost with no contract
  • You value education and tools over exposure databases and sales calls
  • You want a professional profile and a step-by-step system to work through together
  • You want to keep costs low so the budget stays focused on the actual college decision
The honest truth about every recruiting platform

No platform β€” AG2C included β€” can guarantee your daughter gets recruited, gets a scholarship, or gets a roster spot.

Any service suggesting otherwise is overpromising. College coaches make those decisions, based on ability, academics, fit, timing and a dozen other things nobody controls.

What a good platform does is give her the tools to present herself clearly, the education to avoid the mistakes that cost real opportunities, and the structure to run a consistent process instead of burning out in bursts.

If you take one thing from this page: the best predictor of recruiting outcomes isn't which platform you choose. It's whether she actually does the work β€” consistently, over a long timeline, with current film, good grades and genuine outreach. The platform should support that work. It can't replace it.

Start with the free assessment

Eighteen questions, three minutes, no card and no signup. You'll get a readiness score, a breakdown of where she's strong and where the gaps are, and her top three next moves β€” whether you ever pay us anything or not.

It's also the fairest way to test the argument on this page. If the results tell you nothing you didn't already know, the education-first premise isn't for your family β€” and you'll have learned that for free.
