How to build a list that works

Set your criteria first

Division range, geography, majors offered, school size, and a net-cost budget. These become your dashboard filters so the search is focused, not overwhelming.

Cast wide, then narrow

Save broadly on the first pass — 60 to 100 programs — then research rosters, staff, and recent record to cut down to 30–50 realistic targets.

Build all three tiers

A healthy list has Reach, Target, and Likely programs — not just reaches. Most of your energy belongs with the Target tier.

Compare net cost, not sticker
